A stylish trailer for the upcoming novelization of Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has arrived on set. The trailer includes never-before-seen footage from Tarantino's 2019 film and teases a read that will add to an already awesome viewing experience.
The book is being published by Harper Perennial and is set for a June 29 release. You can pre-order the book here.
Tarantino recently waxed rhapsodic about his new book on the Pure Cinema podcast, saying that the novelization will explore Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth in ways the film did not.
"In the movie, Cliff is a real enigma, you're kind of like, what's this guy's deal?" said Tarantino. "And one of the things in the book is, there's these isolated chapters that tell you, like, this whole chapter will be about Cliff's past. It goes back in time to tell you about Cliff at this point in time. And then you go further on with the normal run of the story and there's another chapter that goes back in time and tells you about Cliff's past. And every isolated chapter that's just about Cliff's past is like a weird little pulp novel unto itself starring Cliff."
While everyone is waiting for Tarantino to figure out his next move, his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood novel should help keep the dogs at bay. After all, it's not every day that a director offers an in-depth and extended look into one of their most celebrated films. Alright, so maybe it happens more often than you'd think, but this is Tarantino we're talking about, so you know the book is going to include all sorts of elaborate details.
Get yourself a cozy chair, a tall glass of something lively, and enjoy the ride.
