On February 13th, see all five Die Hard movies on the big screen!

For me, the DIE HARD series ended with the third film. LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD was the equivalent of Liam Neeson in UNKNOWN versus TAKEN. Almost the same, but not quite. Maybe it was the lack of hair or the overuse of CGI, but something was lacking in the fourth film. A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD does look like it has potential, but I will reserve judgement until I see it.

With that in mind, Fox had the right idea and took a cue from TWILIGHT and THE LORD OF THE RINGS films in showing the prior series entries on the big screen prior to the premiere of the new movie. So, on February 13th, we will have a one day chance to see DIE HARD, DIE HARD 2: DIE HARDER, DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE, and LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD on the big screen leading up to the premiere of A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD. How can you go wrong with that?

Look, they even made a cool promotional trailer for it!

Plot: When secret CIA operative Jack McClane gets into trouble in Moscow, Russia, John has to travel to foreign soil to help his son out of prison. However, when there, terrorists use the circumstances behind Jack’s arrest to further their agenda of a nuclear weapons heist, and the father-son duo learn that, despite their differences, they must work together to stop them.

This could work one of two ways. Either seeing the prior films will let people down when they see nothing compares to the classic trilogy, or it will get everyone so pumped up, the new movie rides on their coattails.

Either way, A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD opens everywhere on February 14, 2013.

UPDATE: The DIE HARD marathon will be screening at AMC Theaters. Click here to buy tickets.
