Olivia Munn joins X-Men: Apocalypse as Psylocke

After years of lobbying to play a superhero, Olivia Munn is finally going to get to be one. Bryan Singer revealed the news via his Twitter account and Instagram feed.

Olivia Munn joins the franchise at the point where several established cast-members including Jennifer Lawrence are preparing to bow out of the series. Munn is definitely the sort of eye candy that would fit in with the roster of babes that includes Halle Berry, Famke Janseen, Rose Byrne, and more who have graced the franchise over the years. While some have criticized Munn’s persona as being manufactured, she has developed a large fan-base since her time as a host on G4. Personally, I think she makes a great fit for the series.

The character of Psylocke has been both a telepath along the lines of Jean Grey and a female ninja in her run in the comics. She appeared briefly in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, played by Meiling Melançon, and was in an early draft of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Munn should bring a nice interpretation to the role and we all know she will look damn good in the uniform.

The cast of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is shaping up very nicely. All that remains is to see if Bryan Singer has plans for Cable to make an appearance. X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is slated to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
