Spike Lee's much talked about remake of Park Chan-wook's OLDBOY had originally been eyeing a release on October 11th, but things have changed slightly and the film will now see an opening on October 25th, 2013, going face to face with PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5.
PA5 will no doubt bring in some decent numbers at the box office but I get the feeling that the franchise is on its way out so OLDBOY might have a fighting chance when it comes to its opening weekend numbers.
Oldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.
OLDBOY will star Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, and Sharlto Copley and was directed by Spike Lee from a script by Mark Protosevich. The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison, and Nathan Kahane.
