M. Night Shyamalan is back with Old, another twisted tale from the filmmaker. This time, a group of tourists finds themselves on a secluded beach, only to make a horrific discovery. When the children begin to age rapidly, a strange and unsettling revelation comes to the characters involved. The impressive cast includes Gael Garcia Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Rufus Sewell, Alex Wolff, Thomasin McKenzie, Abbey Lee, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Aaron Pierre. Adapted from a graphic novel by Pierre-Oscar Levy, this is a return to the big screen for Mr. Shyamalan after the recent success of Glass.
One thing that M. Night Shyamalan has always been able to do is to attract a talented cast. And recently, we had the incredible pleasure of speaking with Gael Garcia Bernal, Alex Wolff, and Thomasin McKenzie. First up, we chatted with Alex about taking on the role of a six-year-old child. His process of how to create this character was very charming, and the actor clearly enjoyed his experience. He also opened up about working with Nicolas Cage in the new movie Pig. What an incredible actor this fine fellow is. The same can be said for Ms. Thomasin. The very impressive talent not only had the chance to give one of the best performances of this film, but she also opened up about working with directors like Edgar Wright for Last Night In Soho and of course Taika Waititi in JoJo Rabbit.
Finally, we sat down with a favorite of mine, Mr. Gael Garcia Bernal. I've long been a fan of the actor, and have had the pleasure of chatting with him before. He opened up about taking on this particular project, and the approach of aging rapidly in such a nightmarish way. The actor is quite good here, and considering the psychological horrors on display, he had a whole lot to work with. We look forward to bringing you our conversation with M. Night himself tomorrow. And of course, if you are looking forward to the return of Mr. Shyamalan, you can check out Old at a theatre near you starting tonight.
