Old: M. Night Shyamalan’s new horror-thriller officially rated PG-13

So the MPA has just officially rated M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming supernatural sci-fi horror-thriller Old PG-13 for

Strong violence, disturbing images, suggestive content, partial nudity and brief strong language.

And here's the official synopsis:

This summer, Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly … reducing their entire lives into a single day.

Now, while Shyamalan is no stranger to the R-rating (his much-maligned The Happening was rated R…which might also explain his reluctance to return to that realm), however most of his films (minus another one of his career low-points, the PG-rated The Last Airbender) have been rated PG-13 thus far. So it makes sense that Old would ultimately follow suit. And, honestly, while I might overall prefer R-rated horror films, that doesn't automatically make them good (as, again, The Happening can attest to).

Meanwhile, Old – starring Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Rufus Sewell, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff, Embeth Davidtz, Eliza Scanlen, Emun Elliott, Kathleen Chalfant and Thomasin McKenzie – will grow in theaters July 23rd!

So what do you guys think? Fans of the Shyamalan's? If so, looking forward to his new film? Either way, sound off below!
