Currently nominated for a "Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role" Oscar for her part in Guillermo del Toro's monster love story THE SHAPE OF WATER, Octavia Spencer previously won an Oscar in that category for her role in director Tate Taylor's film THE HELP. While we wait to see whether or not Spencer will be adding another Oscar to her collection, the actress is busy preparing to return to genre work. She's set to re-team with Taylor on a Blumhouse production titled MA.
MA will begin filming in Mississippi next week, and all that is being revealed about it beyond the cast is the fact that it's a "psychological thriller".
Spencer's co-stars will include Luke Evans and Juliette Lewis. We may not really know anything about MA, but it's clearly shaping up quite nicely.
The screenplay for the film was written by Scotty Landes, who has written and worked as story editor on several episodes of the show Workaholics. Blumhouse's Jason Blum is producing with THE HELP's John Norris.
With this level of talent involved, MA definitely seems like a project that will be worth keeping a very close eye on.
