Hello there. Less than a week after rumors began swirling that the Obi-Wan Kenobi series would debut on Disney+ this May comes a new confirmation from Lucasfilm. The studio officially announced today that Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut exclusively on Disney+ on May 25th. I am so ready! Lucasfilm also released a teaser poster for Obi-Wan Kenobi, which you can check out below.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi teaser poster doesn’t show much, just the former Jedi Master walking along the wind-swept sands of Tatooine clutching his lightsaber with the twin suns at his back. Much like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, the sand theme seems to continue here.
The series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. In addition to Ewan McGregor, the series will also see the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
In addition to Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will also star Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Joel Edgerton (Boy Erased), Sung Kang (F9), Bonnie Piesse (The Vow), Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (Homeland), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Simone Kessell (Reckoning), and Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems). Prior to the Obi-Wan Kenobi poster seen above, the only real glimpse we’ve had of the series so far has been a sizzle reel released on Disney+ last year. Among the goodies teased in that video was a possible rematch between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, which would certainly be something to see.
If you needed to hear it one more time, or can’t read the poster, Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut on Disney+ on May 25, 2022.
