Patrick Bergin (EastEnders) has joined Beatrice Fletcher (Summoning Bloody Mary), Julie Stevens (Flight Mode), Andy Dixon (World’s Most Evil Killers), May Kelly (Easter Killing), Stephen Staley (Dinosaur Hotel), Tony Goodall (Jurassic Island), Chrissie Wunna (Dragon Fury), Kelly Rian Sanson (Dragon Fury 2), and Christophe Monplaisir (Sandwiched) in the cast of Nutcracker, a holiday horror film that’s being executive produced by Commando director Mark L. Lester.
Directed by Rebecca Matthews (The Gardener) from a screenplay by Joe Knetter (Blind) that’s based on a story by executive producer Jeff Miller (Once Upon a Time in Deadwood), Nutcracker follows
a struggling novelist who visits her family for Christmas and finds a mysterious, life-size Nutcracker doll, which soon becomes possessed and wreaks havoc.
Deadline reports that filming is already underway on Nutcracker, and even shared an image of Bergin in character, which you can see below. “Bergin plays a shopkeeper who knows much about the dark history of the doll.”
Matthews is producing the film with Scott Jeffrey. The director/producer had this to say about the project:
[Patrick’s] been a great addition to the cast and brought a dynamic character to our adaptation of the story. Shooting the Nutcracker in the English countryside has provided a wonderful backdrop for our dark telling of the classic tale.”
Nutcracker is a co-production between Millman Productions, Titan Global Entertainment, and Proportion Productions.
We’ll keep you updated on Nutcracker as the project continues to move forward. In the meantime, let us know how this all sounds to you by leaving a comment below. Myself, I’m totally on board to watch a movie about a killer Nutcracker doll, especially one from this creative team.
In addition to Commando, Lester’s directorial credits include Roller Boogie, Firestarter, Class of 1984, Class of 1999, Armed and Dangerous, Night of the Running Man, and Showdown in Little Tokyo.
