THE VOID is being sold as "an homage to classic John Carpenter films" and, boy does the flick look cool. And gross. And gory. And insanely awesome. That said, while the film does evoke John Carpenter for sure, I was getting more of a Lucio Fulci's THE BEYOND vibe from the totally NSFW trailer below.
I don't have to explain to horror fans that any film, or trailer for that matter, evokes John Carpenter's THE THING, ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 and Lucio Fulci's THE BEYOND is a must-see asap.
While the film does not currently have an US release info, I'll do my best to keep you up to date on any news I hear regarding THE VOID. This just shot (near) the top of my must-see list.
Officer Daniel Carter (Aaron Poole) happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road while he’s in the middle of a routine patrol. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that patients and personnel are transforming into something inhuman. As the horror intensifies, Carter leads the other survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it’s too late.
Written and directed by Jeremy Gillespie and Steven Kostanski, and starring Aaron Poole, Ellen Wong (pictured below), Kathleen Munroe, Stephanie Belding, and Kenneth Welsh, THE VOID hits UK theaters on March 31st and on VOD platforms April 24th.
Again, I'll let you know when there is news on the US release.
