There are only two films left to come out of the Hulu and Blumhouse collaboration Into the Dark. This series consists of twelve feature films released on a monthly basis, each one having something to do with a holiday, notable date, or event that occurs in the month of its release. For example, the first movie THE BODY was released last October and was set on Halloween.
August will bring us director Mike Gan's SCHOOL SPIRIT, which deals with the fact that the new school year will be starting that month. Now it has been revealed that September's season finale is a female coming-of-age story titled PURE.
Directed by Hannah Macpherson (SICKHOUSE), who also wrote the script from a story by THE BODY's Paul Fischer and Paul Davis, PURE will show what happens when
several teen girls perform a secret ritual at a purity retreat and, when one of them begins to see a supernatural entity, the terrifying question emerges, what is more dangerous: the demon they’ve unleashed, or the pressure to conform to their fathers’ expectations.
You may be wondering what this has to do with September. I certainly was. As it turns out, this film was inspired by Daughter's Day, which is coming up on September 22nd this year.
In anticipation of Daughter's Day, PURE will be reaching the Hulu streaming service on September 6th.
The movie stars Jahkara Smith of the AMC series NOS4A2 (pictured above), along with McKaley Miller, Scott Porter, Annalisa Cochrane, Ciara Bravo, Jim Klock, and T.C. Carter. Smith got her start as a YouTuber, but her Sailor J channel hasn't been updated in a year.
I have really been enjoying Into the Dark for the most part, so I'm looking forward to watching the last couple movies.
