Noomi Rapace tortures Joel Kinnaman in The Secrets We Keep trailer

In the trailer for director Yuval Adler's THE SECRETS WE KEEP, Noomi Rapace's Maja encounters a nightmarish figure from her past, whose unthinkable acts during the Holocaust left her physically and emotionally scarred, and thirsting for revenge.

In addition to directing the drama, Adler also co-wrote the script with Ryan Covington. As for Repace, she'll also executive produce on top of playing Maja, the film's unflinching and unforgiving Nazi killer. As for the film's supporting cast, Chris MessinaAmy Seimetz, Lucy Faust, and Victoria Hill also star.

Recently, Rapace spoke with Entertainment Weekly about how the film left members of the cast shaken long after cameras had stopped rolling.

"We were emotional train wrecks to be honest," she confessed to the outlet with a laugh. "[Kinnaman and I] had to open the door in ourselves to really unpleasant emotions. I'm holding him hostage in my basement. I'm putting him through a lot of extreme things. We went to those emotional places, and they become real so it was hard for us."

Here's the official synopsis for THE SECRETS WE KEEP:

In post-WWII America, a woman (Noomi Rapace), rebuilding her life in the suburbs with her husband (Chris Messina), kidnaps her neighbor (Joel Kinnaman) and seeks vengeance for the heinous war crimes she believes he committed against her.

Bleeker Street is scheduled to unleash THE SECRETS WE KEEP in theaters on September 16, 2020, and On Demand October 16, 2020.
