Noomi Rapace spills on the current state of Prometheus 2

One of the most divisive films of the past year was Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS, a psuedo-prequel to the classic ALIEN series that earned much bank at the box office, raking in over $400 million worldwide, but left critics and audiences alike split down the middle on their opinion of the film. There had been talks of a sequel even before the film hit theaters and now the Playlist has caught up with PROMETHEUS star Noomi Rapace to talk about just that.

We shared the news a couple of months ago that PROMETHEUS screenwriter Damon Lindelof would not be handling the scribe duties for the proposed sequel, but Rapace shared that a script is in development, stating,

“They’re working on the script. I met Ridley in London a couple of weeks ago. I would love to work with him again and I know that he would like to do another one. It’s just like we need to find the right story. I hope we will.”

When questioned about who would be handling the screenwriting duties, Rapace was tight-lipped.

“You would have to ask someone at the studio about who the writer is.”

She then implied that the speculative angles based on the theories and essays that bloomed in the wake of PROMETHEUS’s release are things she would like to see influence the sequel, saying,

 …it’s interesting because people, most people I’ve talked to who see the movie, see things that are quite different. Some people who see the movie many times and discover new things. There are all these religious aspects and there are very interesting conversations. And for me, if we do a second one, there are a lot of things to explore in there and to continue. I would love to do it.”

While it will be quite some time before we see a sequel to PROMETHEUS coming our way, one can only hope they have a solid screenwriter onboard to help continue the story. We’ll keep you up to date on news from the sequel as we hear it.
