Because everything about Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS sequel ALIEN: COVENANT needs to be confusing, there appears to be confirmed word that lead actress Noomi Rapace will not be returning. (This is the source, for what it’s worth.) The actress, who played Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in the original film, has been conspicuously absent from the media materials so far, so this wasn't entirely unexpected, but it casts the details of the film even further into shadow.
Here's what we do know:
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
The film will also star Katherine Waterston, aim for a hard R, and take place a decade after PROMETHEUS. Maybe Noomi Rapace's character got bored of waiting around on that dead planet and took a space bus out of there.
