Steven Spielberg's latest, BRIDGE OF SPIES, is a dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, telling the story of a Brooklyn lawyer (Tom Hanks) who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. Aside from the tried and true director, the script written by Matt Charman and Ethan Coen & Joel Coen has been the biggest draw, and now we have a trailer to give us an idea of what we can expect.
Some images from the film:
Right off the bat, this is a movie that feels more like a B-list Spielberg entry that something that's a "must see" in theaters. All of the elements are there and it's not a bad looking film, but it feels very paint-by-numbers. I was a little upset that John Williams wouldn't be collaborating with Spielberg for this entry, but after watching the trailer, it doesn't look like we're missing much. I'm hoping a second trailer will bring something a little more compelling to the forefront.
BRIDGE OF SPIES will be released on October 16, 2015.
