TNT is not interested in getting into the superhero game that has burst onto the television playing field in recent years.
Today, at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Kevin Reilly – president of TBS and TNT – announced the cable networks would be passing on the DC Comics superhero drama TITANS that had previously almost locked up a pilot order late last year.
We just decided it wasn’t quite where we wanted to go.
Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes had been attached to the project which stemmed from a 1964 issue of The Brave and the Bold, operating as a younger version of the Justice League, comprised of Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and later Wonder Girl and Speedy.
The series was to center on Dick Grayson as he becomes Nightwing, with Raven, Starfire and a number of others joining the mix, but that’s no longer happening. Is it possible someone else could pick up the concept, given the success shows like GOTHAM, SUPERGIRL, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. and others have brought to their homes? Sure… It just isn’t going to be where it was initially set up.
