No one can control Vin Diesel in this new trailer for Bloodshot

Yesterday Sony Pictures decided to drop a blood-soaked trailer for MORBIUS that featured a barrage of bats, battles, and a shirtless Jared Leto. While Leto's Michael Morbius may be a vampire that drinks blood, Columbia Pictures actually has a movie coming out with the word "blood" in the title. Like the titular character himself, the production company dropped a clandestine new trailer for BLOODSHOT starring Vin Diesel last night.

Bloodshot isn't exactly a character with the same brand recognition as say Superman or Wonder Woman so for those of you out there unfamiliar with the character here's a brief synopsis of the film:

After he and his wife are suddenly assassinated, Marine Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel) is reborn by a team of scientists. Enhanced with nanotechnology, he becomes a superhuman, biotech killing machine – Bloodshot. As Ray first trains with fellow super-soldiers, he struggles to recall anything from his previous years. But when his memories flood back and he remembers the man that killed both him and his wife, he breaks out of the facility hellbent on revenge, only to discover that there’s more to the conspiracy than he originally felt.

The trailer itself is very similar to the last one with the resurrection of Diesel's character, allusions to his backstory, and training with other super-soldiers. Guy Pearce looks promising as Dr. Emil Harting, the main villain of the film. However, the story itself feels very familiar and by the numbers. Like a lot of trailers these days, I feel like I've seen most of the movie. The trailer does possess a UNIVERSAL SOLDIER feel to it, a film I absolutely adore. (Ironically Bloodshot made his first appearance the same year UNIVERSAL SOLDIER came out – 1992.) While I don't think the movie will live up to the heights of the Jean-Claude Van Damme actioner, I'm hopeful. At least we finally got to see Bloodshot's signature white skin and red emblem on his chest!

BLOODSHOT starring Vin Diesel, Guy Pearce, Toby Kebbell, and Eiza Gonzalez shoots its way into theaters March 13, 2020.
