Nighy on Evolution

You may be scratching your head wondering how Bill Nighy is returning in UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION, as his character was chopped into bits at the end of UNDERWORLD. Did they just bring him back from the dead, like Whistler in BLADE II? What the hell?



Well, EmpireOnline talked to Nighy about his involvement in EVOLUTION, and he sheds some light on why his ass is back for a second go-round.



“This is absolutely true. I know, but guess what – they went back in time. See what I’m saying? Very clever. So I’m now back in time, in medieval times, in full armour, up a mountain in Canada, in deepest snow, with all the guys. I think they got me back out of pity. I’m not in it a great deal.

As you remember from Underworld 1, I was just one of the elders who were having the centuries-long sleep. I’m largely back to account for the reawakening of the second elder. This is when Marcus comes to town.


The script is absolutely great. I really loved the first one and I think this one is arguably better. The story is a real cracker. And it’s sexy this time. Kind of sexy and funny and really romantic, as it was last time. I’m so impressed with Len Wiseman – it’s really cool.”


So there you have it folks, straight from the horses mouth- this one’s going to be cool! Although I wasn’t a fan of the first one, I do give it props for having style- so we’ll see if EVOLUTION hits both style and story. Either way, with Nighy on board, it’s bound to be fun (the guy’s a frickin’ pimp)!
