Boys and girls of every age, wouldn't you like to see something strange?
Come with me and you will see, news of Henry Selick partnering with Jordan Peele and Michael Key.
This is what Deadline is reporting, as the outlet has recently revealed that THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS director Henry Selick is joining forces with Best Original Screenplay writer and GET OUT director Jordan Peele, as well as Peele's long-time friend and comedy partner, Keegan-Michael Key, for a stop-motion animated film entitled WENDELL AND WILD.
In the film, Key and Peele will provide their voices for two mischievous demon brothers. The original idea for the project was cooked up by Selick himself, whose work on such stop-motion animated films as JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH and CORALINE have proven that he's a master of his craft. In addition to the WENDELL AND WILD gig, Selick is also hard at work while adapting Bandai Namco Entertainment's LITTLE NIGHTMARES video game with Joe and Anthony Russo for TV.
The WENDELL AND WILD feature was recently picked up by Netflix, whose other forthcoming stop-motion animated project, BUBBLES, is based on Michael Jackson's iconic chimp. What's really quite intriguing about BUBBLES, is that it's set to be written by Isaac Adamson (TOKYO SUCKERPUNCH) and co-directed by THOR: RAGNAROK helmer Taika Waititi and Mark Gustafson (PINOCCHIO).
Wow! Henry Selick, Jordan Peele, and Keegan-Michael Key? That sounds like a winning combination to me, particularly when you consider how well the stop-motion medium lends to comedy. Who's to say that that's what this project will be, though? Perhaps we'll get another creepy-yet-poetic effort from these three creatives, or a musical of fantastical proportions! With the plot centering on two demon brothers who're busy plotting away, truly anything is possible.
We'll be sure to keep you updated on this promising project as it develops.
