Back in February Universal announced that MAMA director Andy Muschietti would be directing the feature adaptation of BIRD BOX, with seasoned genre pros Scott Stuber, Chris Morgan and Barbara Muschietti set to produce, and now it looks like the adaptation might’ve snagged a writer, with Eric Heisserer in talks to adapt the manuscript for the big screen.
According to The Wrap, Universal Pictures is turning to Heisserer, who penned the studio's remake of THE THING as well as the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake, to pen an adaptation of Josh Malerman's manuscript.
Described as being in the vein of CHILDREN OF MEN and THE OTHERS, the story reportedly follows…
a woman and two children who make their way down a river in a post-apocalyptic setting.
We'll keep you posted on news regarding BIRD BOX as we hear it.
