Like many of you out there, I'm looking forward to checking out SyFy's upcoming ten-episode adaptation of George R.R. Martin's (GAME OF THRONES) sci-fi novella NIGHTFLYERS (Pre-order HERE). Earlier this week, SYFY released the first five minutes over on YouTube (check it out below!) and today we already have word on the series' Blu-ray debut.
The first season will be hitting Blu-ray and DVD via Universal this February, and while there don't seem to be any special features included on the release, you can check out the cover art (and back cover) below.
SYFY previously announced a multi-platform rollout for its brand new series that will see the entire 10 episodes debuting across all SYFY platforms timed to the beginning of the linear telecast, giving SYFY fans the freedom to view the season anytime and anywhere. Viewers will be able to access the episodes through the SYFY channel, SYFY On Demand, online at SYFY.com and the SYFY app.
Set in the year 2093, NIGHTFLYERS follows
A team of scientists aboard The Nightflyer, the most advanced ship ever built, as they embark on a journey to find other life forms. Their mission takes them to the edge of the solar system, and to the edge of insanity, as they realize true horror isn’t waiting for them in outer space—it’s already on their ship.
It stars Eoin Macken, David Ajala, Gretchen Mol, Jodie Turner-Smith, Angus Sampson, Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, and Brían F. O'Byrne. It's based on the novella by George R.R. Martin, who also serves as an executive producer, and is produced by Universal Cable Productions and Netflix. Jeff Buhler wrote the adaptation and is the showrunner and executive producer, alongside Gene Klein, David Bartis and Doug Liman. Brian Nelson, Mike Cahill, Andrew McCarthy, Alison Rosenzweig, Michael Gaeta, Lloyd Ivan Miller, and Alice P. Neuhauser also serve as executive producers.
Audiences will be able to immerse themselves in the world of NIGHTFLYERS with episodes 1-5 debuting Sunday, December 2 through Thursday, December 6, and episodes 6-10 on Sunday, December 9 through Thursday, December 13 with limited commercial interruption across all platforms.
