A few years ago, Nicolas Winding Refn said he'd love to direct a WONDER WOMAN movie with Christina Hendricks as the Amazonian. Refn may have lost out on directing a big screen take on the iconic comic book character to Patty Jenkins, however the filmmaker recently told Business Insider that he'd still like to helm a superhero movie.
God, I would love to make one, it would probably be great fun. I just don't know when it's going to happen. I very much enjoy my freedom creatively, but I also would love to make one of those big Hollywood films that costs a lot of money and has a lot of people running around with cell phones and all that insanity.
Wonder Woman is no longer an option, but Refn said there is another DC Comics character he'd like to bring to life on the silver screen.
You know the one I want to do? I want to make Batgirl. Let’s get Warner working on it.
WB currently doesn't have a Batgirl film in the works (as far as we know, anyway), but even if they did I'm not sure if Refn would have a realistic shot at helming it. Which superhero do you think would be a good fit for his directing style?
Refn's THE NEON DEMON is now playing in select theaters, you can read a review from our own Eric Walkuski right here.
