Nicolas Cage has “mixed feelings” on Keanu Reeves after he hustled him in pool

Nicolas Cage recalled the time Keanu Reeves hustled him in billiards inside of his own home, making endless “impossible” shots.

“Watch them, the children of the night. What trick shots they make!” As Nicolas Cage gears up for the latest movie, Renfield (which seems like another blast from this phase of his career), he has recollected a moment between himself and Keanu Reeves that has left him with “mixed emotions” about the John Wick actor.

During their Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) this week to promote next month’s Renfield, stars Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult were asked a series of questions related to both that movie and many others. With John Wick: Chapter 4 crushing it at the box office, the two were asked what their favorite Keanu Reeves movie was. While Hoult was direct, saying the first John Wick and 1994’s Speed, Cage was a bit, shall we say, cagey. While he did finally settle on “early stuff like Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1986’s River’s Edge (“He was just great in that movie.”), the most revealing part came when Nicolas Cage recalled a personal anecdote between himself and Keanu Reeves. “Well…Keanu kicked my ass at billiards one night,” said Cage. “He came up to my house on his motorcycle, and he was making these impossible shots. He said “now I dunno if I can get that shot or this shot” and he made every single shot. So I have mixed emotions about the skill that Keanu has because he completely dominated me at pool.”

Building off of Nicolas Cage’s comment, Keanu Reeves does seem to have a deceptive way about him. Once a punchline as an airhead, he has become a sort of hero among movie fans. This is the guy who will give up his seat on the subway, the guy who will donate millions to charity without causing a fuss, the guy who will miraculously, in his 50s, prove to be one of the greatest action stars of this century.

Interestingly, Nicolas Cage and Keanu Reeves have never starred in a movie together. Still, while Cage is now playing Count Dracula, Reeves has his own Dracula twist in his filmography, starring in 1992’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula as Jonathan Harker.

Renfield arrives in theaters on April 14th.
