Nicolas Cage seems to be on his game with his latest flick, JOE, which comes from director David Gordon Green (SNOW ANGELS, PRINCE AVALANCHE). The film was shown at TIFF last year and garnered some great reviews (our’s here) and trumpeted Cage’s performance as one of the best of his career. Gordon Green also seems to be jumping on the “back to form” bandwagon as he has broken from comedies like YOUR HIGHNESS and PINEAPPLE EXPRESS to do smaller indies like JOE and PRINCE AVALANCHE, which are more like his earlier work ALL THE REAL GIRLS and UNDERTOW. Now, we have a new trailer for JOE to give a broader sense of what Cage and Gordon Green are bringing to the table.
“…you know how I react”:
Here’s the synopsis:
An ex-con, who is the unlikeliest of role models, meets a 15-year-old boy and is faced with the choice of redemption or ruin.
I’m actually excited to see Cage back in something that’s worthy of his skill sets. For a while there it seemed like he’d never get out of the movie-a-month club, so it’s good to have him back. Granted, he’s got a few more of those waiting in the wings, but JOE is a step in the right direction.
JOE hits theaters on April 11, 2014.
