Nicolas Cage believes that he’d make for a great Lex Luthor

It's no secret that Nicolas Cage is a massive comic-book fan, particularly of Superman himself; in fact, as most of us know, the actor even came close to playing the Man of Steel for Tim Burton in SUPERMAN LIVES before the project was cancelled. With Henry Cavill's future as Superman rumoured to be in doubt, some fans have even suggested that Nicolas Cage could finally return and take on the role, but in a recent interview with The Guardian, the actor laughed off that suggestion.

"Oh, I think my Superman days are long gone," the actor joked, but when The Guardian's Hadley Freeman suggested that he'd make for a good Superman villain, Nicolas Cage was got a little more excited. "Oh, that would be GREAT! I’d make a great Lex Luthor!" Cage exclaimed. I'm a little embarrassed to say that it's honestly not something I'd considered before, but Nicolas Cage would make for a great Lex Luthor; slightly unhinged, diabolically brilliant, sign him up! What do you folks think? Would Nicolas Cage be a good fit for Lex Luthor in some future Superman movie?

Say what you will about Nicolas Cage and the projects he chooses, but he always manages to surprise, even after all these years. One of his latest films, MANDY, has even received some of the best reviews of his career. The Panos Cosmatos film found Cage starring as Red Miller, a logger who lives with his beloved girlfriend Mandy Bloom (Andrea Riseborough), but when a demented cult kidnaps Mandy and brings their idyllic life crashing down, Red starts out on a bone-chilling quest for revenge. You can check out a review of MANDY from our own Chris Bumbray right here.
