THE TRANS-ALLEGHENY LUNATIC ASYLUM!
How many times do we hear stories about locales with an overabundance of strange phenomena? Homes with haunted histories where unexplainable events happen on the regular? Oftentimes these places have a nice little name describing what could easily be a cozy place to visit. It may be scary on the inside, but some of these places sound damn near pleasant. And then there is The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum! I mean come on! The name alone sends chills down the spine. It sounds like a perfect place for Amanda Krueger to hang out with 100 maniacs before giving birth to Freddy. In other words, it sounds like a place that would be drenched in some sort of serios paranormal activity.
Having visited this forboding place a number of times before, Nick Groff certainly has a story to tell. And this week felt like the perfect time to disappear into the hallowed halls of this spectacularly spooky location. For awhile the asylum was known as the Weston State Hospital, but it has now become a tourist attraction for those looking for a glimpse into the unknown. The establishment has become a regular hangout for those intrigued by ghostly guests and paranormal investigators. And judging from the stories I've heard, this is the real deal when it comes to truly intense happenings for many who have had the privilege to step inside.
Nick recently returned to this fascinating, and history-laden source of living energy. He even offered us a glimpse into his time there with a recent Instagram post. In it, he discusses sleeping there in the dead of night, as well as the sounds that seem to follow him throughout his return. I've said this before and I'll certainly say it again, I need to take on the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum for myself! Have you ever had the opportunity to visit? Let us know in the comments below what you discovered. And now, let's see what Mr. Groff had to say about this intensely haunted abandoned institution.
"The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, West Virginia is one of my favorite locations I’ve ever investigated! There is so much to explore with the history, and 666 acres of buildings! I had the opportunity to speak to a nurse that once worked inside these walls and told me tons of stores that occurred that I'd never heard about.
Every time I explore more of the unknown on the grounds at this incredible location I discover a new experience. My journey has lead me around the world but I keep coming back to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum because of the mystery and adventure that the energy holds within the foundation. I just returned recently to learn about more history and speak to the owner, Rebecca Jordan-Gleason about the renovations they’ve been doing.
The paranormal activity has been interesting lately and still continues to amaze the living that enter the buildings. It’s definitely worth taking a tour to learn about the architectural design, history, people that lived and died within these walls, and the paranormal that still remains. I have so much more to learn and will return in the near future. Hopefully, I’ll see you there in October. There's mystery all around us, but the energy is fascinating at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum!"
