While the fates of many Marvel characters remain uncertain after Thanos snapped his fingers in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, news about certain players returning for the studio's next phase of films has a lot of people talking. As part of a recent development, Vulture is reporting that both Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill will indeed show up as characters in the upcoming Spidey sequel, SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME.
While a 1990s-style Fury has already been announced to participate in Marvel's highly-anticipated CAPTAIN MARVEL in March of next year, it has been unclear as to whether or not Jackson's MCU-anchoring character would reconstitute himself for any films taking place after Thanos' devastating display of spirit fingers. Should Vulture's report prove true, it means that fans can look forward to seeing more of Fury, and his comrade-in-arms, Maria Hill, when Tom Holland's friendly neighborhood wall-crawler swings in to foil the plans of the nefarious Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). For the moment, Sony has not confirmed the casting of either Samuel L. Jackson or Cobie Smulders for Spidey's next adventure, though with the rumor mill now a'churnin', I suspect that we'll be getting a confirmation sooner rather than later.
SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME, which is currently filming in Europe, stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man and Jake Gyllenhaal as the evil special effects genius Mysterio. The cast also includes stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Tony Revolori. So far, plot details surrounding the movie remain unknown, though my Spidey-sense tells me that we'll be seeing the web-head embrace his next adventure abroad, as he attempts to foil the dastardly scheme of Quentin Beck a.k.a. Mysterio, a disgraced special effects technician who uses his talent to construct elaborate and dangerous hallucinations.
