This past Halloween, we were finally hit with Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green's direct sequel to John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN. The film was met with tons of fanboy love and since then rumors and whatnot surrounding a possible sequel have been flying. And today is no different, kinda. What I mean is here we are again today talking about a possible Blumhouse HALLOWEEN II and how no one knows if it's happening or not.
But at least they're hopeful!
This time it's original Michael Myers/The Shape Nick Castle (who had a cameo as the man behind the mask in the recent movie). Castle says he'd love to do HALLOWEEN II as long as John Carpenter, Jamie Lee Curtis, and director David Gordon Green were still involved. Specifically, he says:
I would love to do that, assuming it's something that John's involved with and hopefully that Jamie and hopefully [director] David [Gordon Green] is gonna be a part of the sequel, too, 'cause he really did a great job, I think, on reimagining and figuring out what to with it. So we'll see what happens with it, but in general, I'm all for it, and it's a lot of fun. And also, it would depend, I guess, if I like what they came up with, 'cause you do, in a crazy way, feel a little responsibility in these things, because if you do it, then you're saying, 'Yeah, go see it.' So we'll see what they come up with.
Personally, I think this last HALLOWEEN movie kind of wrapped up the Michael Myers tale aptly. To go back to Michael Myers and especially Laurie Strode would only lessen the impact of this most recent film's ending. At least I think so. But then again, maybe the powers that be behind the scenes can make it work. I guess we'll see one of these days. After all, the most recent movie made a killing at the box-office and we all know money talks.
I expect it to start gabbing sooner than later.
We'll let you know one way or the other when we hear anything further on a potential sequel to Blumhouse's HALLOWEEN. Until then, let us know what YOU thought of the latest entry below! Ignoring the events of every HALLOWEEN except the 1978 original, this HALLOWEEN is about
Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Andi Matichak star alongside Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen, Dylan Arnold as Allyson's boyfriend Cameron Elam, Will Patton as Officer Frank Hawkins, Virginia Gardner as Allyson's friend Vicky, Miles Robbins as Vicky's boyfriend Dave, Drew Scheid as Oscar, Toby Huss as Ray, Jefferson Hall as Aaron Korey, Rhian Rees as Dana Haines, Omar J. Dorsey as Sheriff Barker, Rob Niter as Deputy Sheriff Walker, Jibrail Nantambu as Julian, Haluk Bilginer as Dr. Ranbir Sartain, Nick McKeever as Deputy Keeve, and Diva Tyler as a caretaker. James Jude Courtney plays Michael Myers, with original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle (see above) also wearing the mask for one scene.
The film just hit Blu-ray this week and you can snag a copy on Amazon RIGHT HERE.
