We’ve seen a lot of casting information on CBS Entertainments upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s UNDER THE DOME in the past couple of weeks, and today we have two more additions to that list.
TV Guide reports that Nicholas Strong (“Nashville”) and Jolene Strong (DONNIE DARKO, “Glee”) are set to be shoved under the titular anomaly alongside the previously announced Britt Robertson, Natalie Martinez, Alex Koch and Colin Ford.
The serialized drama, which will be produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, is about a small New England town that becomes sealed off from the world by an oversized transparent dome. The show will follow the citizens’ survival as they try to learn more about the dome and how to get rid of it.
Purdy is set to portray Dodee, a brilliant, eccentric engineer at the local radio station, who draws on her unique skills in an effort to make contact with the world outside the dome. Strong will play Phil, a popular radio DJ and indie rock fanatic with a dark secret.
In November, CBS granted a straight-to-season order of 13 episodes of the sci-fi series. Niels Arden Oplev, who directed the Swedish version of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, will helm the first episode. King, Neal Baer, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Stacey Snider join Lost’s Brian K. Vaughan, who wrote the adaptation, as executive producers.
With filming set to begin in just a few weeks in North Carolina we can expect to hear a lot more casting news in the coming days. The thirteen episode series premieres on CBS June 24th.
