Next up for Joe Hill’s Locke & Key? Pilot episode!

Remember back in September when we wrote that Joe Hill’s (Stephen King’s son) LOCKE & KEY was getting the small screen treatment? Well it’s not going to feel like a distant dream anymore. Fox is getting an urge to get the project going with a pilot order. It seems they’ve already greenlit the adaptation of Hill’s graphic novel. Dreamworks TV and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are said to be the one doing the “pushing” in this scenario.

Variety writes that LOCKE & KEY was already a commited project for the execs but now that Fox has ordered in the pilot it looks like there’s no turning back now. The hour long episode is being adapted from page to screen by scribe Josh Friedman who also penned and created another Fox produced show called TEMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. Every heard of it?

“Locke & Key revolves around three kids who end up watching over a secret, spooky New England mansion filled with mystical doors that transport them to different worlds and give them special powers.” Gabriel Rodriguez handles the art.

Twentieth Century Fox TV is producing along with DreamWorks TV and Kurtzman and Orci’s K.O. Paper Products banner. DreamWorks’ Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank are exec producing along with K.O.’s Kurtzman, Orci and Heather Kadin. Friedman and IDW Publishing’s Ted Adams are also EPs.

I haven’t had a chance to read the graphic novels myself but the concept sounds pretty crazy-cool to me. Lets see how this fares with LOCKE & KEY fans? Are you supportive of this or are you already mobbing against Fox and Dreamworks?
