We don't know which studio will be distributing the next James Bond film. We don't know who will be directing the next James Bond film. Hell, we don't even know for sure whether Daniel Craig will be returning for the next James Bond film, but we do know when the next James Bond film will be released, so that's something.
Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions and Gary Barber of MGM announced today that 007 will be returning to U.S. theaters on November 8, 2019 for what will be the twenty-fifth installment of the James Bond franchise. As usual, the U.K. release will take place a little earlier than its U.S. debut, but that date, along with the film's cast and director, will be announced later. Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (SPECTRE) will be scripting the film. Sony’s contract to market and distribute the James Bond films expired with the release of SPECTRE, which has left Sony, Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox, and Annapurna squabbling for the rights. Nothing official has been announced yet, but given that EON has announced a release date, they must be close to having all their ducks in a row.
Since the release of SPECTRE, we've heard various rumours of whether Daniel Craig would stick with the franchise, with the actor at one point saying that he'd rather "slash my wrists" than do another Bond film. Craig has also said that, "As far as I'm concerned, I've got the best job in the world. I'll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it. If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly." Personally, I expect to see Daniel Craig back again for one more James Bond film, but I also wouldn't be too broken up if EON took this opportunity to bring in a new actor. Either way, I'm sure we'll be hearing something soon.
Do you want Daniel Craig back for one more Bond outing? Or would you rather see a new actor take on the role?
