Newcomer Tom Taylor to join The Dark Tower as Jake Chambers

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

Now that the adaptation of Stephen King's THE DARK TOWER is officially underway, the question on many fans' lips has been who will fill the key role of Jake Chambers, the protégé to gunslinger Roland Deschain (played by Idris Elba). Well folks, the wait is over.

After a worldwide search, newcomer Tom Taylor has been cast as Chambers. The young actor is so up-and-coming that he doesn't even have a headshot yet on IMDb. He can be seen in the British series Doctor Foster, as well as The Last Kingdom and Legends, though this film will obviously serve as a Daniel Radcliffe-esque launchpad for his burgeoning career. We wish him all the best!

Taylor is joining Matthew McConaughey, as the villainous Man in Black, as well as MAD MAX: FURY ROAD's Abbey Lee as Tirana. Aaron Paul may also be taking an unspecified role.

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, THE DARK TOWER is planned to be the first in a series with a complementary TV series to follow. The film is currently set for release on January 13, 2017.
