New X-Files photos show off David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Mulder and Scully are back! In the first photos from the upcoming X-Files revival, the daring duo return to work, along with newcomers Annet Mahendru and Joel McHale. Additional photos tease the first page of the script for the opening episode and give a backstage peek at a production meeting with creator Chris Carter.

The series premiere, "My Struggle", centers on Mulder and Scully investigating Annet Mahendru's character, who is believed to be a "possible alien abductee," according to Joel McHale's character, a conservative talk show host who gives Mulder and Scully the tip to investigate her.

Right off the bat, we're returning to the old standby of "is any of this actually real?" So far it seems like we're in good hands with this reboot. The eight photo set doesn't reveal too many details of the plot, but it's cool to get a look at the project, which gives concrete evidence that it's finally happening! We've wanted to believe for so long, and now it's finally here.

Well, give or take a couple months. With original cast members Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis also set to return, The X-Files will beam onto Fox with a six-episode season on January 24, 2016.
