A reboot of the 2003 backwoods slasher WRONG TURN is in the works, with Constantin Film remaking the hit horror flick with franchise-creator Alan McElroy returning to pen the script, and Mike P. Nelson (THE DOMESTICS) directing. And today we hear the reboot has started filming!
A local reporter, Sheila Vilvens tweets:
I must have missed a memo. Just learned film crews are in the Village of New Richmond through September 13 to film scenes for a “Wrong Turn” movie series.
The "updated version" will star Charlotte Vega (THE LODGERS) and is described as "a timely and topical meditation on society and its issues."
More specifically, this new film will follow:
A cross-country hiking expedition puts a group of friends in the land of an inclusive society, where they soon discover they are under a different rule of law, and may not be the victims they thought they were.
The franchise kicked off in 2003 and spawned five films. The original starred Eliza Dushku, Jeremy Sisto, and Emmanuelle Chriqui. It centered on:
Friends Jessie (Eliza Dushku) and Carly (Emmanuelle Chriqui) are traveling with pals Scott (Jeremy Sisto), Evan (Kevin Zegers) and Francine (Lindy Booth) when they have car trouble in West Virginia. Moments later, motorist Chris (Desmond Harrington) crashes into their disabled vehicle. Stranded, the friends discover that they're being stalked by a horde of backwoods cannibals. The woodsmen are hungry and fierce, and they'll be eating well unless Jessie and pals can outsmart them.
Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer will produce this remake and Martin Moszkowicz will executive produce. Are you excited for a reboot of WRONG TURN? Make sure to hit us up and let us know! Until then, you can snag a copy of the original film on Blu-ray HERE.
