The last we heard about PANZER 88 was from Eric Walkuski nearly a month ago. Awesomely enough, I’ve got a few pics to share with you. Here are some concept art that might shed some light on what’s going down between that supernatural beast and those German soldiers.
If you haven’t heard much of PANZER 88 don’t beat yourself up. Not a lot of info has come out other than artwork and rough sketches. PANZER 88 revolves around a five-man German tank crew that encounters a supernatural beastie as they drive across Russia. That supernatural beast in question? A Balrog looking mofo. The film has been described to be like a “visceral, reality-based story with horror overtones.” The film is basically a character piece set in a German King Tiger tank in Russia during World War II.
Peter Briggs (HELLBOY, MORTIS REX) is teaming up with the WETA guys to design the beast. Gary Kurtz (STAR WARS) is producing the picture which should be a big deal to many of you out there. You’ve got the creative and imaginary talents of Kurtz who jumped ship from STAR WARS before it became a toy best seller, Peter Briggs who scripted HELLBOY is currently directing the film and the men at WETA to bring the effects to life. What more do you want in a beast of a film like this?
What many people are suggesting is that this could be another DISTRICT 9. A small but effective story that hits you where you want it. Check out the concept art below and hit us with a comment on what how you think this will all turn out.
