The Walking Dead isn't the ratings juggernaut it used to be and the comic book series that inspired it all has come to an end, but the franchise is still chugging along. That's because even though the flagship show keeps hitting series lows, its highs were so high that it still remains the top scripted show on cable and it's in the top 10 across all networks.
The show's 10th season just started its midseason break, but a season 11 is guaranteed to follow. Fear the Walking Dead is getting a sixth season, and next year will see the debut of a new series, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, which looks like it will feature some of the helicopter people that flew Rick Grimes away… and there's also going to be a Rick Grimes movie trilogy that deals with that situation.
January 23, 2020 will see the release of a new Walking Dead VR video game, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, and as a tie-in to that game Skydance Interactive is releasing a narrative podcast.
The 10 episode podcast is called The Supernatural Skeptics Guide to New Orleans. Mara Junot provides the voice of Sarah Bennett, "the host of a local radio series investigating urban legends and paranormal tales in New Orleans." Over the course of these episodes, Sarah will
uncover the surge of walkers taking over the city as she becomes trapped in one of New Orleans' most notorious landmarks, the LaRouche House.
Junot says The Supernatural Skeptics Guide to New Orleans
is a sort of War of the Worlds-style experience, where the line between Sarah's fantastical fascination with debunking mythical horror stories and her own skeptical reality soon becomes blurred and all too real when she decides to investigate the legendary LaRouche House murders. It all starts out as just an innocent radio show. Sarah’s investigating as a skeptic… she’s having fun with her friends and loves the gore of it all, but she’s not really in it in terms of it being something that’s really palpable. Until it is."
Junot is no stranger to the world of Walking Dead, as she previously worked on the Telltale game.
The Supernatural Skeptics Guide to New Orleans launches today on "all major audio platforms."
