It must be prom season for television shows, because a whole bunch of them are getting dates. Netflix has announced a slew of premieres for its original series, but the most anticipated is certainly Black Mirror, its resurrection of the popular British sci-fi anthology. The series will premiere globally on October 21st, 2016 at 12:01am PT.
Also, Wolf Creek is getting its U.S. premiere! Fans will be slavering for this one, because I'm sure nobody used dubious means to view the series. Mick Taylor will be crossing the ocean to premiere on Pop on October 14th, 2016 at 10:00 PM, ET/PT.
Black Mirror:
is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.
The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones. Its third season, comprising six episodes: San Junipero features Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis in an episode directed by Owen Harris; Shut Up and Dance features Jerome Flynn and Alex Lawther in an episode directed by James Watkins; Nosedive features Bryce Dallas Howard, Alice Eve and James Norton in an episode directed by Joe Wright; Men Against Fire stars Michael Kelly, Malachi Kirby and Madeline Brewer in an episode directed by Jakob Verbruggen; Hated in the Nation features Kelly MacDonald in an episode directed by James Hawes; and Wyatt Russell and Hannah John-Kamen star in Playtest, an episode directed by Dan Trachtenberg.
In the six-episode series Wolf Creek:
The story of WOLF CREEK begins when an American family is on holiday in Northern Australia and becomes the unsuspecting prey of Mick Taylor, a sadistic serial killer who hunts and kills tourists in the Outback. The sole survivor is Eve Thorogood, a college student, who vows to bring the killer to justice or die in the attempt. The story of WOLF CREEK reveals her complex and extraordinary journey, traveling every step of the way as she evolves from child to adult, from prey to predator. But can she triumph over Mick Taylor, evil incarnate?
John Jarratt is joined in the cast by Lucy Fry, Dustin Clare, Deborah Mailman, Miranda Tapsell, Jessica Tovey, Jake Ryan, and Richard Cawthorne.
The episodes were written by Peter Gawler and Felicity Packard, with Tony Tilse and WOLF CREEK creator Greg McLean taking on directing duties.
