The Transformers franchise just seems to keep truckin' along, and the next film in the lucrative series has been assembling a brand-new cast of humans who will play second fiddle to a bunch of big robots.
Anthony Ramos (In the Heights) is already set to star in the new film, and Deadline has reported that Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah) is now in final negotiations to star alongside Ramos. According to Deadline, Paramount took their time in meeting with Ramos' perspective co-stars and had the actor screen-test with a number of women before Dominque Fishback won everyone over. Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) is set to direct the film with Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters writing based off a script by Joby Harold. The new Transformers movie is already set for a June 24, 2022 release, but there are several other Transformers projects in development alongside this film, including one set outside the main Transformers universe that will be written by Marco Ramirez and directed by Angel Manuel Soto.
In addition to Judas and the Black Messiah, Dominique Fishback has also been seen in The Americans, The Deuce, and Project Power. Fishback's next project will find her starring alongside Samuel L. Jackson in The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, a mini-series for Apple TV that will start shooting later this year.
