Fox Searchlight Pictures has released a new trailer and poster for LUCY IN THE SKY, an upcoming space exploration drama from director Noah Hawley (FX's LEGION, FARGO). In LUCY IN THE SKY, Natalie Portman plays Lucy Cola, a strong woman whose determination and drive as an astronaut take her to space, where she’s deeply moved by the transcendent experience of seeing her life from afar. Back home as Lucy’s world suddenly feels too small, her connection with reality slowly unravels. The film is loosely based on real-life astronaut Lisa Nowak's criminal activities around her romantic involvement with fellow astronaut William Oefelein.
Written by Brian C Brown, John-Henry Butterworth, Elliott DiGuiseppi and Hawley, the movie also stars Jon Hamm, Dan Stevens, Zazie Beetz, Ellen Burstyn and Nick Offerman.
The film serves as Hawley's feature directorial debut, who for the past several years has been hard at work while crafting LEGION, a psychological and psychedelic X-Men-related television show for FX. Packed with outstanding visuals, intricate character work, and a soundtrack that would bring most audiophiles to their knees, LEGION has done much to showcase Hawley's talent for marrying drama with larger-than-life characters and scenarios. When LUCY in the sky takes flight, I've no doubt that Hawley will mark himself as a filmmaker to watch going forward.
