We all may use the internet to read news stories and look at pictures of cats, but there is a much darker and twisted side most of us have never seen. The latest film from Blumhouse, UNFRIENDED: DARK WEB, places several friends in the midst of this much more brutal side of the web, and all done via a web chat gone horribly wrong. The new trailer showcases the more demented elements of the movie, proving that this is quite possibly the darkest, most f**ked-up movie the studio has put out yet.
Here is the plot synopsis:
When a 20-something finds a cache of hidden files on his new laptop, he and his friends are unwittingly thrust into the depths of the dark web. They soon discover someone has been watching their every move and will go to unimaginable lengths to protect the dark web.
The movie from THE GRUDGE's Stephen Susco premiered at SXSW a few months ago to solid marks, with the consensus being that this is one seriously messed up movie, and how you enjoy it is totally dependant on how you handle content like that. In short, this doesn't seem like a movie for the faint of heart, and that notion alone has me anxious to see just how dark DARK WEB really is.
UNFRIENDED: DARK WEB arrives July 20.
