Aw Shit, let the Bayhem begin…again. The new trailer from TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION takes us deeper into the story of the next autobot/decepticon outing, but not so much that it detracts from what we're really here for; Explosions, Peter Cullen, Marky Mark, Dinobots, and more Explosions. While the franchise may have worn on some folks, fans of the series can rest assured that all the over-the-top Bayrifficness is fully intact.
Here it is:
And here's an updated synopsis:
The film begins after an epic battle that left a great city torn, but with the world saved. As humanity picks up the pieces, a shadowy group reveals itself in an attempt to control the direction of history… while an ancient, powerful new menace sets Earth in its crosshairs. With help from a new cast of humans, Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen) and the Autobots rise to meet their most fearsome challenge yet. In an incredible adventure, they are swept up in a war of good and evil, ultimately leading to a climactic battle across the world.
Listen, I'm going to see this. Most of you will, too. Some of you will hold out. I respect that. Having enjoyed the first and third films, I know what I'm getting here and I don't expect more than that. Mark Wahlberg lends some solid credibility in what will likely be a brainless, yet glorious piece of cinematic eye candy. Toss in Optimus Prime riding Grimlock into battle and you've got yourself a ticket sold.
TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION, directed by Michael Bay, blasts into theaters on June 27, 2014.
