A new trailer for The Matrix Resurrections has been released and it provides a few more clues as to what’s really going on in the fourth mind-bending installment.
In the newest look, we can hear Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) explaining that “a déjà vu is usually a glitch in the Matrix, it happens when they change something.” In this case, it looks like it’s changing something from the original movie over and over again. Soon we see moments from the previous three films mixed together with clips from the upcoming fourth movie. We also get another look at a seemingly sinister Jonathan Groff which suggests that he may be the film’s big bad.
Per the film’s official synopsis, “In a world of two realities – everyday life and what lies behind it – Thomas Anderson will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more. Choice, while an illusion, is still the only way in or out of the Matrix, which is stronger, more secure, and more dangerous than ever before.”
Keanu Reeves’ Neo returns alongside Moss’s Trinity and the fourth film also sees the return of Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe, Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson, and Lambert Wilson as The Merovingian. Newcomers include Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Christina Ricci, Jessica Henwick, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who is believed to be playing a version of Morpheus, formerly played by Laurence Fishburne in the first three films.
