Now, I’m not saying that it makes the movie look any less predicatable, but this new trailer for Halle Berry‘s THE CALL is, at the very least, a better chopped one than the first, which was a very by-the-numbers “upcoming thriller” edit. The new trailer offers up a little more creativity, utilizing some interesting cuts of footage that deepen the mystery and make me think that it may not be a Lifetime movie of the week that made it into theaters.
Answer “THE CALL”:
So, yeah, I don’t think this is going to revolutionize cinema, but it’s not trying to. It’s an interesting film for director Brad Anderson to tackle, as he showed some grit with the Christian Bale starrer THE MACHINIST and his train thriller TRANSSIBERIAN. He’s since worked primarily in telvision, working on shows like Fringe, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, and The Killing, all of which are highly-praised, so perhaps it may be too early in the game to write off THE CALL completely. Could it be a waiting surprise or a by-the-book thriller?
THE CALL, starring Halle Berry, Abigail Breslin, Morris Chestnut, Michael Imperioli, and Michael Ecklund, hits theaters on March 15, 2013.
