Square Enix's upcoming video game, Marvel's Avengers, might not have gotten off on the right foot with fans in June of last year, but today the interactive superhero adventure is back with a new trailer that has the game looking better than ever.
The game takes place in a world where the Avengers have disbanded after the apparent fall of Captain America. Having failed the very planet they had sworn to protect, a new hero by the name of Kamala Khan (aka Ms. Marvel) must reunite the team if they're to stop an evil organization named Advanced Idea Mechanics from stripping the world of its last scraps of humanity and order.
As the new trailer plays on, A.I.M.'s diabolical leader M.O.D.O.K. is revealed, albeit in his human form, George Tarleton. In addition to plunging the world into ruin, M.O.D.O.K. is also responsible for a series of experiments being performed on the Inhumans, a race of superpowered beings. After Tarleton makes an attempt to recruit Kamala (a fellow Inhuman) for his own insidious ends, she escapes his clutches and goes in search of what's left of the Avengers. Together, Kamala and the group must restore the balance between good and evil, and perhaps save their planet in the process. You know, just a typical Tuesday for Marvel's Avengers.
Marvel's Avengers is set to superhero land on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Stadia (crickets), and PC on September 4, 2020. Additionally, those who purchase the PS4 version will be given a free upgrade to the Playstation 5 version upon the console's Holiday 2020 release.
Yo, I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't all that impressed when Marvel's Avengers first came onto the scene, but now? Hot damn! This game now looks epic beyond measure, and I am definitely pre-ordering a copy ahead of release. Personally, I love that Kamala is a central part of the story, as she's without a doubt one of my favorite characters in the Marvel Universe. I'm curious to see how she'll gel with the rest of the Avangers, and I wouldn't mind getting my hands on some of that sweet Hulk gameplay either. Bring it on, Square Enix. I can do this all day.
