New trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into action!

Yet another new trailer for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 has arrived, featuring a few new bits of footage and dialogue within the same shell of stuff we've already seen in previous trailers and spots, including the . While it doesn't offer anything new in terms of the villains, it does play heavily into their threat to the wallcrawler, who looks to be getting more than he bargained for in the sequel.

Here's the synopsis:

We've always known that Spider-Man's most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It's great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

I have to say, my opinion on this sequel is the polar opposite of the first film, which I was mostly bored by. Now that we're past all the bullshit origin stuff, it feels like director Marc Webb is really going for it in this one, which is good to see. I know the fear is that it will be another overpopulated SPIDER-MAN 3 and that's certainly a possibility, but the difference here is that the filmmakers seem to have this mapped out for the next film and even the spinoffs. I'm optimistic. Bring it on.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Chris Cooper, Paul Giamatti, Colm Feore, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, and Denis Leary swings into theaters on May 2, 2014.
