Just when you thought that Baby Yoda was all the rage of 2019, along comes Baby Sonic, a pint-sized version of Sega's famous Blue Bomber.
Paramount Pictures unveiled an exclusive Japanese trailer for the upcoming February release of SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, which gives fans a glimpse at the furry speedster's origin story, as well as a great look at the Emerald Hill Zone, a locale made famous by the character's beloved video game series. In the trailer, fans are treated to a sweeping view of the lush, grassy paths and checkered loop-de-loops of the Emerald Hill Zone. As Sonic races along winding runways and launches himself off the island's death-defying ramps, it's soon revealed that we're witnessing a much younger, more adorable version of the iconic character; and oh look, he's brought us some flowers!
In SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, Sonic tries to navigate the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound best friend — a human named Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). They must soon join forces to prevent the evil Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his powers for world domination.
Directing SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is GOPHER BROKE short director Jeff Fowler, from a screenplay penned by Josh Miller, Patrick Casey, and Oren Uziel. Set to star in the family-friendly romp based on the popular Sega mascot are James Marsden (WESTWORLD, ENCHANTED), Jim Carrey (ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, IN LIVING COLOR), Neal McDonough (MINORITY REPORT, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER), Tika Sumpter (SOUTHSIDE WITH YOU, RIDE ALONG), with Ben Schwartz (PARKS AND RECREATION, HOUSE OF LIES) as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog.
In addition to today's vibrant and gorgeous trailer, Paramount also dropped a new poster for the film's Japanese release, which you can feel free to check out for yourself below:
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG will race into theaters on February 14, 2020.
