A new green-band trailer for NEIGHBORS, starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne has moved in today and although it’s toned down from the red-band hijinks of the last trailer, it’s no less funny. In fact, it may be funnier, but that always rests on individual humor. The fairly straightforward story has a new family (Rogen, Byrne) dealing with their new neighbors who happen to be a frat house run by Zac Efron and Dave Franco. Some new footage and comedic bits are featured here, including some “bush” action and an extended bit with Franco as De Niro from MEET THE PARENTS.
That’s not a balloon!:
I don’t know, man, I kind of think Efron may be headed in the right direction here. He seems to have a good grasp on comedy based on the trailers for this and his other R-rated comedy, THAT AWKWARD MOMENT. I tend to agree with my compatriot, Niki Stephens, who recently stated similar sentiments. Efron deserves a chance to move on now that he’s done belting out tunes in a basketball uniform. I’m also partial to director Nicholas Stoller, who also did FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, GET HIM TO THE GREEK, and THE FIVE-YEAR ENGAGEMENT, all of which I enjoyed thoroughly. So far, I’d definitely like to “meet” the NEIGHBORS.
NEIGHBORS starts borrowing sugar on May 9, 2014.
