New trailer for Lovecraft Country teases the arrival of true Eldritch horror

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

In the midst of threatening viewers with untold horrors to come, the new teaser trailer for HBO's LOVECRAFT COUNTRY posits that the American dream depends on just one question: What is reality?

Based on Matt Ruff 's novel of the same name, LOVECRAFT COUNTRY follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he meets up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams). This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.

HBO, Lovecraft Country, Jordan Peele

The series hails from executive producers Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams, who along with the show's brilliant cast are poised to explore the darkest depths of Eldritch horror. Misha Green serves as showrunner for LOVECRAFT COUNTRY, who will also executive produce what HBO hopes will become the hottest series of the summer. After all, who doesn't delight in the thought of encountering nightmare creatures as old as time itself, or embracing the many arms of Cthulhu, a monstrosity that looks as if an octopus gave a dragon the business and then birthed a kaiju-sized demon? What? Don't kink-shame me. I'm certain that if we rifle through your browser history we'll find some eyebrow-raising material as well.

Created by Peele and Green, LOVECRAFT COUNTRY stars Abbey Lee, Aunjanue Ellis, Chase Brown, Courtney B. Vance, Jamie Chung, Jamie Harris, Jonathan Majors, Jordan Patrick Smith, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Marcus A. Griffin Jr., Michael Kenneth Williams, and Wunmi Mosaku, among others.
