Last month we brought you the effectively creepy international trailer for Lluís Quílez’s supernatural thriller OUT OF THE DARK, which stars Julia Stiles, Scott Speedman, and Stephen Rea. We followed that up last week with a look at the poster for the film along with the news that Vertical Entertainment is set to release OUT OF THE DARK in theaters on February 27. Now we've got the latest trailer to share with you, and this one is equally as creepy as the first one but also gives us a better idea of what kind of scares we can expect. Damn creepy kids…they get me every time!
Here's the synopsis for OUT OF THE DARK:
Sarah Harriman’s (Stiles) family has relocated from London to a small town in Colombia to take over her father’s business. Moving into a beautiful old home and having her father nearby, their new life in Santa Clara seems like a promising place to raise their young daughter Hannah. But Sarah and her husband, Paul (Speedman), soon learn of an ancient legend that haunts the town and has created a culture where ghosts have become the answer to anything that goes wrong.
As they settle into their new surroundings Hannah begins to act strangely, wandering off into the jungle as if following something, and suddenly falls ill. When Sarah and Paul begin to see disfigured ghost-like creatures around the house Hannah disappears, sending them on a frantic search to find her. As they delve deeper into the town’s superstitions they discover a shocking secret about their family and must uncover the truth in order to save their daughter.
OUT OF THE DARK arrives in theaters February 27 from Vertical Entertanment. Vertical's Rich Goldberg says that “Out of the Dark is much more than it seems on the surface. We think it will surprise genre fans with its ability to reach beyond just the scares and great storytelling and have a thought-provoking motif that will stay with them well after they see it." Now that's what I'm talking about! Color me intrigued.
The film was executive produced by Jeff Skoll, Jonathan King, Roy Azout, and Nick Spicer; produced by Belén Atienza, Cristian Conti, Enrique López Lavigne, and Andrés Calderón from a screenplay by Alex Pastor, David Pastor, and Javier Gullón; and was directed by Lluís Quílez.
