New trailer for Brad Anderson’s Vanishing on 7th Street appears online

Director Brad Anderson (THE MACHINST) is back in the genre game with the horror/suspense thriller VANISHING ON 7TH STREET, a film that appears to be harkening back in some ways to his 2001 film SESSION 9. Starring Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, and John Leguizamo, the film will be playing at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival as part of the “Midnight Madness” line-up (which includes the cool-looking BUNRAKU, a film we first reported on a little earlier today).

The trailer below comes courtesy of ShockTillYouDrop, and they point out something kind of interesting that I didn’t catch: “If you look closely, there’s a reference to ‘Croatoan’ – a nod to the Roanoke Island colony disappearance in 1597 – which might be a clue as to where Anderson is going with this film.”

So, what say you?

Synopsis: When a massive power blackout causes the population to inexplicably vanish, a small handful of survivors (Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, John Leguizamo) band together inside a desolate tavern struggling to survive as the darkness hones in on them. From director Brad Anderson (The Machinist, Transsiberian) comes an apocalyptic thriller with a terrifying vision of our world’s end and a story that wrestles with the nature of existence itself.
